Our H49 integrates all modern acoustic and electronic advancements. It follows the three fundamental pillars of a great tube microphone:
1. A high-quality capsule
2. A balanced, low-noise tube as an impedance converter
3. A transformer perfectly matched to the tube’s output impedance
The tube we use in the H49 was specifically developed for audio applications, with performance characteristics similar to the Telefunken AC701 and the Japanese 6D-H3. Unfortunately, global production of these tubes has been impacted by current geopolitical events, making them increasingly rare. Compared to earlier designs, our tube features reinforced electrodes, enhanced resonance resistance, superior microphony rejection, and exceptionally low self-noise.
The H49 is equipped with an M7 capsule, chosen for its uncompromising sonic character. It is driven by the BV11 transformer, carefully engineered to maintain the classic tonal balance while complementing our modern tube.
All these elements work together to create a harmoniously tuned system, offering stunning clarity, warmth, and depth.
The H49 microphone is powered by a custom power supply featuring a NOS tube analogical to the 150B2 and is equipped with an RF-proof Binder GmbH connector, ensuring protection from radio frequency interference and secure operation in any professional setting.
